Specifications for specialty advertising material

A high resolution PDF can be generated from most programs. We recommend and accept Adobe Acrobat files.

  • All fonts embedded
  • Minimum of 300dpi
  • CMYK colour mode only (no RGB or spot colours)
  • Black text to be 100% black, NOT 4-colour black
  • Magazine total ink weight is less than 320%
  • No overprint to be contained in file
  • Bleed where required (see table below) and trim marks.

Our magazines are supplied to the printer in PDF format. It is strongly advised that all advertising is supplied to Retail Media using the above criteria and saved as a PDF to ensure the printed artwork is correct. Artwork will be checked, and you will be advised if there are any problems with the PDF file you have sent.

  • Email: production@retailmedia.com.au (limit 10MB) or use Wetransfer/Adsend.

Approval requirements

  • Retail Media will not accept any responsibility for artwork that is not supplied in accordance with our specifications.
  • Advertising material needs to be compliant with all legislative law requirements within all states and territories of Australia.
  • Any advertising offering readers a ‘chance to win’ as opposed to ‘a game of skill’ must have the relevant state and territory permit numbers present on the artwork.

Foil Stamping

 Foil stamp is available in solid shapes and lines. Soft edges or gradients will not be foil stamped. It is generally recommended that foil stamp artwork have a minimum stroke width of 0.25mm and 0.25mm spacing between foil stamp designs to avoid plugging. All artwork will be done by our production team. Just let us know which design elements you would like foiled.

Metallic Inks

Metallic ink is a mixed ink that is combined into your project similar to CMYK inks. It’s a more subtler effect than foil stamping, better for Small and intricate designs, where it is mostly metallic, where more colour options are needed, where you intend to use more spectially options like embossing or debossing as foil stamping is prone to cracking, and metallic ink is a more econmical option compared to foil stamping.
